2017, a coveted vintage

2017 has been the year of all extremes.

The buds showed the tip of their nose very early and were unfortunately stopped in their tracks by a wave of frost at the end of April.

Of course, it is normal to expect frosts until the Ice Saints have passed; however, it is less likely to have such high temperatures in March-April luring buds just waiting to come out …

On the other hand, the spring passed without a hitch and presaged a summer under the best auspices.
As early as June, the national canicular episode did not spare Alsace and lasted until the end of August: maximum sunshine and hot weather were present, but the great absence of summer and not least, was the rain.

All conditions were met for premature grape harvests: they began on Saturday, August 26, the earliest date ever in the history of the estate.

The lack of water was however felt: beautiful grapes at maturity but small bunches.

The 2017 harvest will be small in size but big in potential!
